Scooter Servicing & Repairs

Servicing. One of the most neglected considerations when purchasing a scooter is how it will be looked after.  We are continually bombarded with scooter riders who, based on the reputation of our workshop, would like us to service their scooter, only to discover that we can't (or won't!).  Unlike the car market, there aren't many workshops who will look after scooters, so most people tend to use the company that they've bought from.  We are now the longest established Vespa/Piagio dealer in Perth, and our workshop is fully equipped and staffed to undertake all your servicing needs, and most repairs too.

The quality of work comes down to individuals who undertake it.  Bill, our head mechanic, has been with us for over 5 years, and was previously a car mechanic for over 20 until back issues from leaning under bonnets put a stop to that.  Their loss, our gain!   The mechanic is the lynchpin of a vehicle business.  If a customer comes in with a problem, its not just about fixing it, its about trying to determine how it happened such that when its fixed it doesn't happen again.  Its also about looking after your vehicle as if it were our own.  And one reason why we do, is that we ARE scooter riders too.  This is not just some tack-on part of the business.  Its what we do.  Its ALL we do.  Our reputation is based on it.  We've worked damned hard to get it, and we don't intend to throw it away!

We regularly get phone calls asking about the price of a service.  Unfortunately that's one of the most difficult questions to answer as it depends entirely on the current state of your vehicle.  We can provide an estimate based on previous experience, but until we've actually seen it, we won't know for sure.  The best way to get good (and cheaper!) ongoing support is to have bought your scooter from us in the first place, and then maintain it with us, as our system records your full service history and allows us to check when consumables have been replaced so we don't have to open your vehicle up just to have a look.  If asking for prices we are more likely to err on the side of caution, but we'd rather try and set up a fair expectation of price up front.  Sometimes, however, costs can be greater than anticipated, particularly where customers haven't used our services before and/or where services (or parts thereof) have been neglected.  Did you know that you should get your brake fluid changed every two years irrespective of kms travelled?  We'd prefer not to have to send you home with brakes that may not be quite as effective as they need to be.

One thing that we try to do however, is to get your permission before we undertake work that may not have been anticipated, or requested at the time when the vehicle is dropped off.  Rear tyres needing replaced is not uncommon!  We appreciate that if, prior to booking, you have a quick check round your scooter such that if  more work than just a service is possibly required, we know in advance and can allocate additional time.  Nothing more annoying than to have to make a second trip to see us because we didn't have time to fix the problem you only told us about when you dropped it off - sometimes what looks to be a simple job, can be a lot more complex if you have to remove panels to fix it, and we simply may not have enough time available to complete it.

We can undertake the full range of periodic servicing for our scooters at our Joondalup workshop. We can service other brands, but please note that there may be additional costs associated with this as we may be unable to get parts directly from the manufacturer. Please call if you want to know more, or get an estimate of prices.

To maximise the life of your scooter, we strongly recommend that you undertake running-in services at between 500k and 1000k for 50cc scooters and at 1000k for all larger ones.

Thereafter, the recommended servicing interval is approximately every 5000k for 2-stroke scooters, 6000k for air cooled 4-strokes, and 10,000k for Piaggio/Vespa/Gilera liquid cooled 4-strokes, OR once a year whichever is more frequent.  A "yearly" service is almost always cheaper than a "book" service but its not a replacement for one!   The periodic service is usually an oil change,  a new spark plug for a 2-stroker, and a general check over and tighten up.

If you need repairs or additional work carried out in your service, we operate a strict policy that we won't undertake any work without your approval.
If your scooter has a problem, but the solution isn't obvious, we'll carry out an agreed amount of work, but only proceed further once we've updated you on progress and got your agreement on whether to continue. You are always in charge, and hopefully won't get any nasty surprises on your bill!

Authorised Service Agent

We are authorised service agents for Vespa and Piaggio scooters.  This means that we can undertake warranty work on these vehicles irrespective of whether it was purchased from us or not.  We have full access to parts and service items on these vehicles so can do repairs as well as service work.

Other brands

We are able to undertake most repair and service work for (some) Derbi, Gilera, SYM and Aprilia scooters too.

Unfortunately we are unable to service many other brands due to the time delays in getting parts.  And there are some other brands that we simply won't have in our workshop, except to change tyres.  Please don't be offended if we cannot help, although we should be able to tell you who the nearest dealer for your scooter is.

If you'd like to know whether we can help you with servicing or repairing your scooter, please call us on 9300 1719 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
