Piaggio Typhoon 50

The Typhoon (in various versions) has been around for quite a while...since 1993 in fact - but this is its first foray into Australia and in its brand new format.  It has always had a reputation for great looks, but with the engine of the Vespa 50, and the handling you'd expect of a much larger engined machine (the Typhoon is also available in a 125cc format), you can perhaps understand our anticipation.

It's also available in a range of designs, whether the military grey, the sleek black,  or the funky white, we reckon that there is something that will appeal to everyone.  And if you don't like the graphics, then just peel them off!  We reckon that they look pretty damned good without them too!

Since arriving in January 2012, the Typhoon has quickly established itself as our top selling scooter, and this is reflected in Australian sales where it reached number 8 - not bad for a newcomer.   With the reliability, dependability and performance of the Vespa LX 50 (being based around the same engine) BUT for nearly $2,000 cheaper, its too good to look past.  Moreover, we've specifically priced it at just under $2,500 even though the RRP should actually be closer to $2700.
