At Ace Scooters our used scooters are almost always the result of trade-ins, although occassionally we help our customers sell their scooters due to having to move interstate or overseas. Just like our new scooters, we are very picky about what we will buy and therefore sell "pre-loved" - our aim is to keep all our customers satisfied as we hope that they will return and buy from us again.
Because we are so strict on quality, we don't get as many 50cc scooters as we'd like, and when we do, the price of them might seem high compared to a new model! Because a good 50cc scooter is so cheap to own, and can be used by anyone with a car license, people tend to hang on to them. So if you see one on our site, don't hang around - they don't tend to last long!
The same goes for 250cc machines as well. Most are snapped up rather quickly. Interestingly over the last year or two, many have come from customers moving, though a few have been from upgrades (or indeed simply "refreshes").
The majority of used scooters we seem to have are those in the 125-150cc bracket. The owners have often bought them to start their scootering journey, and now realise how much they use them and are prepared to put some money into something bigger and better. Most of our used scooters are from riders who have moved onto 250cc and 300cc Vespa's.
The best thing about quality used scooters is that they really tend to hold their value. If you look after them, and don't put too many km's on the clock, you can often sell them for not a lot less than you originally paid for it! So if you are just starting dipping your toe in the scooter world, and are a bit apprehensive about investing so much in a new scooter, a quality (and I repeat and emphasise the word quality) second hand scooter is probably the ideal place to start. We won't be surprised when you are back, safe in the knowledge that the scooter path is the one for you, and ready to upgrade to that new quality scooter that you can now totally justify will be worth every cent.
